Euryan Data Intelligence produced this DFMEA from one module’s artefacts, with none of the customer’s own history in it.An engineering consultancy took it into a design session with their client.

  1. The session changed
    That went much better than I thought it would. They got it completely after about an hour, and it turned into a DRBFM discussion very quickly.
  2. It found what was missed
    They had not considered isolating the electronics from vibration.
  3. It moved to the structure
    I have suggested they use FEA to confirm the mounting brackets are capable.
  4. Then to the joints
    Their bolt and joint design is a little immature, so I have given them a steer on that too: bolt stretch, and making sure the bolts do not lose their preload.
  5. They asked for more
    It would be good if it included the part numbers it has considered against each line item.

    Not in the prototype. It is in the v1 build, carried as provenance.
